F

ew people can boast of having traveled to Tibet, this mysterious, clothed in the country legends. After exploring the main sights of Kathmandu, we will take seats in the cabin of a small, comfortable aircraft and it will take us through the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas in a reserve city Lhasa, capital of Tibet. Here are the shrines of Tibetan Buddhism – Jokhang Temple in the center of Lhasa and the palaces of the Dalai Lama. And then, (hold the breath) in jeeps through the Himalayan passes and cut off from civilization, mystical monasteries of the Tibetan plateau, returning to Nepal. The names we have visited the ancient cities of Tibet – Gyantze, Shigatse, Tingri – sounds like the music of Buddhist hymns. Day 1

Departure from Moscow, Sheremetyevo-2, Aeroflot regular flights as well.

Day 2

Day tours of Kathmandu Valley, to the complexes of Hindu and Buddhist temples and stupas and Bouddanath Pashupatinath. Pashupatinath – an analog of the famous holy city of Varanasi in India, a place of pilgrimage for millions of Hindus. The temple complex dedicated to Shiva, stands on the bank of the Bagmati river revered, there are rituals of bathing and cremation. Bouddanath – one of the largest and oldest Buddhist stupas in the world, here you can visit the monasteries of all schools and trends of Mahayana Buddhism. Excursion to the Buddhist shrine Svayambhunath – the most famous Buddhist stupa, built 2,000 years ago on a hill "Monkey Mountain". It offers a magnificent view of Kathmandu Valley. Colorful green basin surrounded by majestic mountain peaks.

Day 3

Flight across the Himalayas to Lhasa (flight duration of 55 min.). Meeting at the airport and transfer to hotel. Accommodation and leisure.

Day 4

Lhasa: Potala Palace in the tour and Norbu Lingka Palace – the residence of the Dalai Lama. Visit the Jokhang Temple, the main sanctuary of Tibetan Buddhists. Here is one of the ancient statues of Buddha – Sakyamuni Jowo – erected in X century. In the evening – walk through the shopping street zhivlennoy Bharkhor.

Day 5

Lhasa: visit Drepung Monastery – one of the largest in Tibet. During the reign of the Fifth Dalai Lama (1617-1682 gg.) The population of the monastery more than 10,000 people. Until the accession of Tibet to China (1959), the monastery was one of the most important centers of political and spiritual life of Tibet. Visiting the Monastery Sera – the center of flow Gelugpa (yellow nodding school of Buddhism). Visit the center of Tibetan medicine (diagnostics for a fee). Evening – free time in Lhasa, the capital of the mystical currents Lamaist Buddhism.

Day 6

Transfer by jeep through the pass Carola (5045 m) in Gyangdze, accommodation at the hotel. On the way stop at the shore of an alpine lake Yamdrok Ttsho. In Gyantze – excursion to the only surviving castles of the XIV century in Tibet – Dzong fortress, as well as the majestic Palchen complex, consisting of 16 monasteries.

Day 7

Transfer by jeep to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, located in the beautiful green valley. Accommodation at the hotel. Visit the main attraction – the residence of the Panchen Lama, Tashilhunpo Monastery, which houses a 30-meter gold-plated copper statue of Maitreya Buddha, adorned with diamonds.

Day 8

Transfer by jeep to Tingri. Excursion to the Monastery Shekhar.

Day 9

Transfer by jeep through the pass Laling-La (5214 m) in Zhangmu, a small town on the border with Nepal, accommodation. On the road clearly visible Everest.

Day 10

Crossing the Tibetan-Nepalese border and drive to the ancient town of Dhulikhel, 30 km. west of Kathmandu. The magnificent panorama of the Himalayas. Observation of a delicious sunset.

Day 11

Departure to Bhaktapur, the former capital of an independent principality, the city is almost completely preserved its original appearance, this open-air museum. Excursion to the Palace Square to the Golden Gate, the Palace of 55 windows, temples Batsala Devi Bhayravnath. Return to Dhulikhel.

Day 12

Option 1: Travel to the tourist bus to Pokhara, a famous city in western Nepal, "the world capital of the hippies of the 1970s." Located at the foot of the grand mountains of the Annapurna massif. Day 13

Option 1: Meet the dawn of the Himalayas. Free time in Pokhara. Optional – walking tour (simple tracking) to the traditional village Hindu temple at the foot of Annapurna Changunarayan. Option 2: Safari in Chitwan. Day 14
